What Does It Take To Be A Derby Dame?
PPDD seeks and accepts women 18 and older* who have a desire to become strong, athletic, and competative skaters. To be a Pikes Peak Derby Dame you will NEED to be motivated and productive, with a want to succeed. Practices will be mandatory, so girls who do not have good attendance will be terminated from the league. A willingness and ability to commit is crucial to membership with the league.
PPDD is an all-inclusive league, meaning that we, as an organization, accept all 18+ women who want to join. However, there is a MANDATORY skills assessment that must be passed at 100% in order to be placed on a team and skate in public sanctioned bouts. This is for YOUR safety, as well as the safety of others. Scrimmage bouting during league practices will be subject to approval by PPDD training staff, which may include multiple forms of assessment.
New recruits have a 30-day trial period with the league. During this period, no attendance requirements will be imposed on you. After the 30 day trial period is up, if you decide to join the league, and your membership is approved, you will have to pay a one time joining fee (non-refundable) and will be subject to attendance requirements. A monthly due is also collected for every skater.
Recruitment Nights
PPDD holds recruit nights several times a year. All interested women are encouraged and invited to attend. First, new recruits will be introduced to current league members and there will be an introduction session, in which interested ladies will be "schooled" on how the league operates and what to expect as a member of PPDD. There then will be a Q&A session, followed by an open skating session in which new recruits can mingle with current members.
